Today, we are into the sixth part of our series. We look at the different Crowns which are big and luxurious. The name origins mentioned are limited to principal ones and are not exhaustive for some models. Each name has a date of when the car’s production started.

CROWN ESTATE

The meaning of “crown” is the same as in English. An “estate car” to the British is what Americans call a “station wagon.” Dec.15,1999

CROWN MAJESTA

“Majesta” derives from “majesty.”  Oct.28,1991. A few “recent” ones are trickling in the country although older ones appeared in the 1990s too.

CROWN ROYAL

CROWN ATHLETE

The meanings of “crown” and “athlete” are the same as in English. Sep.24,1999

CROWN EIGHT

 “Eight” comes from the first V8 unit to power a Japanese automobile. Apr.20,1964
